這是一個由台灣旅外留學生發起的活動 但是不管在台灣或國外 都能夠支持!

只要您邀請國外親友 寄一張明信片給台灣 就能用行動表現出對台灣的支持與愛....

活動完畢之後 主辦單位會把收集到的明信片做成展示 連同入聯公投連署單 一起寄到聯合國!!!

這是一個替歷史做見證的機會 希望大家踴躍參與!!! :)

UN membership for Taiwan - a fight for recognition

For  my dearest friend __________________

 

In the referendum that will be held on March 22, 2008 in Taiwan, the Taiwanese people will
express their wish to be recognised by the United Nations. We, as Taiwanese students,
professionals, and expatriates who are living in your country, invite you to support Taiwan's
bid to become a member of the UN.

First and foremost, it must be stated that Taiwan is not a part of China. In fact, Taiwan is a
sovereign nation, as evidenced by the fact that Taiwanese citizens have the right to directly
elect their president and representatives in accordance with universal suffrage. When a visitor
applies for a visa to visit Taiwan, this visa is issued by the government of Taiwan, not the
government of China. Taiwan is a democratic country that respects human rights, which is in
complete contrast with the dictatorial regime in China. Unfortunately, due to pressure
exerted by China, most nations fail to recognise Taiwan as a sovereign nation and oppose its
right to hold a referendum - UN membership for Taiwan.

Although your government may not recognise the sovereign status of Taiwan, we believe that
our friends around the world do support us. Therefore we are asking for your support and
solidarity for the Taiwanese people, who are suffering from archaic and imperialistic Chinese
policies that seek to isolate Taiwan from the world. The Chinese government has obstructed
the participation of Taiwan in many international organisations such as the World Health
Organisation, while threatening Taiwan and the fragile peace in East Asia by aiming 1300
missiles at Taiwan.

 

Express Your Support:
You can help us in two ways:
1. You can send a postcard to Taiwan with the words "UN FOR TAIWAN." Of course, you are
more than welcome to add your comments and express your personal support for Taiwan's
UN entry bid. Please send the postcard to the following address:
P.O. Box 84-86 Taipei, Taipei city 10099, Taiwan.
Your support will be displayed in an exhibition of postcards for the Taiwan Referendum.
2. You can also send us your photographs via internet that are marked with "UN FOR
TAIWAN." Our volunteers will explain the details to you. You can send and find your
